convert jpg images to heic iphone

This post will explain convert jpg images to heic iPhone. Apple’s HEIC format compresses photos to half the size of a conventional JPEG image while maintaining high visual quality. Isn’t it incredible? That’s why Apple made it the iPhone’s default camera photo format. In short, HEIC is quite beneficial when it comes to storage management.

How to Convert JPG Images to HEIC on iPhone Easily

In this article, you can know about convert jpg images to heic iPhone here are the details below;

However, your iPhone may still accumulate a large number of space-consuming JPG images, particularly those acquired automatically via social networking apps. It’s advisable to convert them to the HEIC format if you need to free up some space. But how do you do it?

Using a third-party file converter for this job may jeopardise the security of critical images. That’s why I will show you how to convert JPG images to HEIC using nothing more than your iPhone. To do so, you’ll need to create a shortcut.

Don’t be concerned. It’s simple to create the shortcut. You can convert batches of the JPG photos to the HEIC format in one go once you’ve set one up.

You’ll need the Shortcuts app installed on your iPhone to create a shortcut that lets you convert JPG images to HEIC format. If you can’t find it, you may get it for free from the App Store.

However, before you begin, create a new album to save your converted HEIC images. That should makes it a lot easier to create them after we’ve converted them with the shortcut we’re about to make.

To create one, go to Photos > Albums > New Album and give it a name like ‘HEIC’ or something like.

Are you ready to go? Let’s get this party started.

Step 1: On your iPhone or iPad, open the Shortcuts app.

Step 2: Click the Create Shortcut button under the My Shortcuts menu. At the bottom of the screen, tap ‘Search for apps and actions.’

Step 3: Type’select photographs’ into the search bar, then tap Select Photos under Actions. After that, tap Show More to expand the Select Photos action, and then turn on the switch next to Select Multiple.

Step 4: Go back to ‘Search for apps and actions,’ this time searching for ‘convert image,’ and then selecting Convert Image from the Actions menu.

Next, pick the Convert Image action from Convert Photos to JPEG to Convert Photos to HEIF (tap JPEG, then HEIF).

It’s also a good idea to expand the action (tap Show More) and confirm sure the Preserve Metadata switch is switched on.

Step 5: Go back to ‘Search for apps and actions,’ search for’save to photo album,’ and then tap the Save to Photo Album in the Actions section.

Select the applicable album from the pop-up list if you created one to save converted HEIC images. Tap Recents, then select the relevant album from the pop-up list.

In my case, I chose an album called HEIC, which I had previously created. Leave the action alone if you don’t want to store the photos to any specific album. Finally, press the Next button.

Step 6: Give the shortcut a name (for example, JPG to HEIC) and then tap Done.

Now that the shortcut has been created and is ready to use, it’s time to put it to the test.

You can use the Shortcuts app to run the shortcut you just created. You can also use the Shortcuts widget or Siri to run it (say Hey Siri,’shortcut name’).

However, before you begin, you might wish to convert the JPG images you’ll be converting to a different album in the Photos app. If clearing up storage space is your goal, you can quickly remove them after the conversion procedure to avoid photo duplicates.

Step 1: run the shortcut for JPG to HEIC. Select the JPEG images you wish to convert using the image picker that appears in the Photos app. You can select as many images as you want. To begin the converting process, tap Done.

Step 2: The progress of the conversion will be indicated by the shortcut. When it’s finished, open the Photos app and check the converted images in the appropriate album.

Step 3: Verify that the photos are in the HEIC format (if desired). Because the Photos app does not allow you to check an image’s file format, I recommend utilising Google Photos instead.

Simply pick a converted photo in Google Photos, tap the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and the file format should appear under Details.

The images should be converted to the HEIC format if the shortcut was properly created. If everything seems good, you can remove the JPG files.

It’s really simple to convert JPEG images to the HEIC format using the shortcut you just created. Isn’t it better than having to put up with an ad-filled file converter?
